Do I need to use olive oil drops beforehand?
No, it’s optional. If your wax is very hard or dry, using olive oil softening drops for 3-5 days before your appointment can make removal easier and more comfortable. However, if you have a perforated eardrum, do not use drops – check with us first.
How often do I need my ears cleaned?
This varies by person. Some people naturally produce more wax and may need cleaning every 6-12 months, while others can go years between appointments. Can I have microsuction if I have a perforated eardrum?
Not without ENT specialist advice first, if you have a perforated eardrum or a mastoid cavity. Please call us to discuss your situation before booking rather than book online. If you’ve had recent ear surgery, wait at least 2-4 weeks before microsuction.
Will my hearing improve immediately?
Yes, most people notice hearing improvement straight away. However, if you’ve had wax impaction for a long time, it may take a few days for your ears and brain to fully adjust. If hearing doesn’t improve as expected, we can investigate further or advise on a hearing test.
Can children have this treatment?
